Go West, Go Green – West London Green Skills Hub Extended

West London Green Skills Hub, hosted by iQQTV, has been successful in a bid to extend its funding for an additional year. The extension recognises the work done in inspiring and helping people find work in the capital’s growing green economy.

Part of the Mayor’s Skills Academies Programme, and following a successful bid, West London Green Skills Hub will now continue until March 2025.

The Hub is dedicated to improving employment opportunities, reskilling the workforce, boosting West London’s economy and playing its role in helping to achieve the Mayor’s net zero target for carbon emissions by 2030. It does this by bringing together West London’s training providers, employers, local authorities, charities, business groups and others to share best practice and support each other.

At the heart of the Hub are two well-respected, active and energetic employer-led boards that invite West London businesses, organisations and others keen to collaborate to get in touch.

West London is also fortunate to have a top line-up of colleges and training providers who support the work of the Hub – each offering a modern and innovative green skills curriculum to meet the demands of employers and job seekers. A West London green skills prospectus, created by the Hub, sets out the training and qualifications offered by the Hub’s training provider supporters, which can be viewed .  

Matt Fawcett, Deputy Principal at iQQTV and leader of the West London Green Skills Hub, said: “I am delighted we have been awarded an extension to our contract. We have also been granted an extra boost to our budget and across the next year we will be channelling extra funding into events and activities designed to get more people into jobs, apprenticeships and training.”

The Hub recently celebrated International Women’s Day by running a highly successful green skills jobs and training fair at The Drum at Brent Civic Centre aimed at unemployed women. The event featured an all-female line-up of inspiring guest speakers and employer-led workshops giving the women attending, tips on how to increase their chances of landing a job.  

Matt added: “This event was a perfect example of what we can do. The Hub, working in collaboration with iQQTV and Women into Construction, delivered an inspiring event attended by over 100 women bringing them together with over 20 employers with job vacancies and colleges offering an exciting range of training and qualifications. I am looking forward to hosting many more events and activities between now and March 2025.”
